RAD PDF 3.0 Released

Red Software is proud to announce version 3.0 of RAD PDF!

RAD PDF is an industry leading PDF reader, PDF editor, PDF form filler, and PDF signature interface for ASP.NET. It has been refined, version after version, since 2009. Today Red Software is excited to provide the third major version release of its tool.

This release introduces the new PdfWebControlLite class which allows RAD PDF to be used without SQL Server! While RAD PDF's SQL Server document storage is useful to many customers, maintaining a database is often undesired overhead. Using the new PdfWebControlLite, customers can use RAD PDF's built-in mechanisms or implement custom ones for RAD PDF sessions and storage.

Also by default, RAD PDF now supports ASP.NET Session State in PdfIntegrationProvider implementations. (The new PdfHttpHandlerWithoutSession class can be used to disable Session State use.)

While a major update, it is fully backwards compatible with version 2.x. There are no breaking changes in this new version and can be installed in place. The current PdfWebControl (which uses a SQL Server database) continues to offer the most functionality. It can function alongside the new PdfWebControlLite without issue.

This version is available free of charge to all RAD PDF licensees with an active RAD PDF Maintenance Plan.

RAD PDF 2.39 Released

Today, Red Software announces RAD PDF 2.39, the ASP.NET PDF editor, form filler, viewer and more. This version includes a new option to render PDF files at the client instead of server side. This reduces server CPU load and allows RAD PDF to be used without the System Service (abet with some limitations).

This release also includes a number of improvements for using RAD PDF with large PDF files, specifically reducing memory usage through the use of temp files.

RAD PDF's System Service now uses its own caching mechanism by default, reducing the load on the SQL Server database being used with RAD PDF. This can be configured when installing RAD PDF (and the installer will not overwrite already saved settings).

This version is available free of charge to all RAD PDF licensees with an active RAD PDF Maintenance Plan.

RAD PDF 2.38 Released

Red Software is excited to announce version 2.38 of RAD PDF, the ASP.NET PDF viewer, PDF editor, PDF form filler, PDF signer, and more. This version includes additional ways of interacting with the new PdfSignatureShape object. PdfSignatureShapes can now be added using the GUI (disabled by default). The Client API can also add new shapes for even easier integration into custom signature workflows.

This release also includes minor bug fixes and other enhancements.

This version is available free of charge to all RAD PDF licenses with an active RAD PDF Maintenance Plan.

RAD PDF 2.37 Released

Red Software is proud to release version 2.37 of RAD PDF, the ASP.NET PDF viewer, PDF editor, PDF form filler, PDF signer, and more. The new PdfSignatureShape object allows signatures to be easily captured in specific regions of RAD PDF documents. The PdfSignatureShape object can be drawn on using a mouse or touch device. All marks made outside of the box will be removed making it easy to limit where a user draws.

With this update, RAD PDF can be configured to use lower overhead local WCF connections without encryption for high performance environments. For advanced use environments, RAD PDF now supports multiple PdfIntegrationProviders in different virtual directories. This makes it easier to setup multiple RAD PDF implementations inside the same web site.

This release also includes minor bug fixes and other enhancements.
